|BRIDGEPORT — A Steuben Street woman forced to jump from a second-floor window when fire trapped her in an apartment Thursday remains in critical condition in Bridgeport Hospital.|
The unidentified woman, who lives in the duplex at 65 Steuben St., suffered burns to her hands from opening the window and unspecified injuries from the 10-foot fall.
She and another person were displaced by the fire, which gutted their half of the duplex.
The fire broke out at 3:53 p.m. and firefighters extinguished it in 10 minutes.
Its cause is under investigation.
Henry Polite, the Fire Department's arson investigator probing the blaze, could not be reached for comment Friday evening.
